Week ending Athlete of the Week
July 15, 2012

Knoxville's Sarah Bowman won the women's 1500m at the Toronto International Track and Field Games on July 11th, with a well timed kick. The former UT star split 64.0 for the last 400m to stop the clock at 4:11.33, just holding off Canadian Kate van Buskirk.

July 8, 2012 Sonja Friend-Uhl had little trouble defending her home turf at the Brentwood's Andrews Cadillac Firecracker 5K on a hot July 4th morning. The 41-year-old clocked an impressive 17:30 to finish first female overall and 25 seconds up on Franklin's Sharon Thompson.
July 1, 2012 Knoxville's Sarah Bowman ran very well to place 6th in the women's 1500m final at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene,OR. Bowman clocked 4:08.25 in a race won by pre-race favorite, Morgan Uceny, in 4:04.59. Bowman's 6th place is outstanding, given where she was just two months ago. After struggling with an Achilles tendon injury for the last 2 years, and missing the entire 2011 season
